Juniors lead trio of Canadian podiums in U.S.A. World Cup DH

Snowshoe, W.Va. may have delivered challenging conditions, but Canadian racers thrived at the muddy U.S.A. World cup round. Gracey Hemstreet continued a sensational season with another junior women’s World Cup win. Jackson Goldstone also claimed victory in the land of the free, with Tegan Cruz joining him on the podium in second.

Goldstone and Cruz finish 1-2 in West Virginia

Jackson Goldstone (Syndicate) took advantage of challenging racing in the U.S.A. to extend his World Cup overall advantage. Goldstone was joined on the podium for a second-straight World Cup by new national champion Tegan Cruz (RockShox Trek). Cruz steps up from third in Andorra to finish second in Snowshoe.

Wei Tien Ho joined Goldstone and Cruz in the top 10, placing seventh. It’s the Whistler, B.C. racer’s second top-10 finish this year.

Tristan Lemire (Commencal/Muc-Off) qualified, but wasn’t able to start Sunday. Bodhi Kuhn made it out of the start hut, but was one many DNF’s on the treacherous W.Va track.

Hemstreet solidified junior women’s lead

Gracey Hemstreet (Norco Factory Team) also landed her fourth World Cup win this year. The Sunshine Coast racer, who recently earned her first Canadian junior women’s national championship title at Kicking Horse, extends her lead in the World Cup overall ahead of Phoebe Gale (Canyon FMD). Gale slid to seventh in Snowshoe, creating the first significant gap in points between the two young riders this year.
