Laurie Greenland is ... teamless for 2026?

Laurie Greenland is one of the fastest riders on the World Cup circuit. Laurie Greenland is one of the most exciting racers to watch and a fan favourite. But Laurie Greenland does not have a team for 2026.

The U.K. rider revealed that, after leaving the Syndicate at the end of 2025, he did not have a new team going into this season. In fact, he’s not even really going into this season.

In an post revealing his newly independent status, Greenland shared that he’ll only race a limited World Cup calendar in 2026.

“Being a World Cup racer by name this might come across as a bit of a risk,” Greenland says, “But it is my choice and if felt like the right time to diversify a bit.”

“Burn out is a thing”

The World Cup calendar is grueling and long. With WBD adding a lengthy summer break, and stretching the season out from May to October, it asks riders to be in peak form for a huge portion of the year. The grind, Greenland admits, is part of what pushed his decision.

“Burnout is a thing,” Greenland puts it bluntly.

“Don’t get me wrong, I love racing and I owe my life to it,” the ex-Syndicate racer continues, adding “There’s plenty more I’d like to do with bikes outside of the tape. For years I’ve had ideas banked in my mind that racing hasn’t allowed me to do. It’s time to tick off a couple.”

Greenland already looks to be making the most of his self-extended off season. He’s currently in New Zealand and surfing and skateboarding as much as he is riding. When he is on the bike, its “flat pedals only” for now and, as he puts it “unbranded.”

We can’t see more from this new side of Greenland. And, hopefully, a return to racing. When he feels like it, of course.
