LeBron James posted a casual bike tease last night, shouting out Canyon for keeping his rides “looking and feeling good.”
Within hours, LeBron’s comment section turned into a digital wildfire. Entire screens filled with 🔥. Thousands of keyboard pundits hammering out things like, “KING,” “GOAT,” “BE CAREFUL BROTHER!!!” and “The way he rides that bike is so tuff,” which somehow pulled in 1,469 likes.
It is pure, chaotic fan energy. And surely exposure that the people at Canyon are absolutely thrilled with. They’ve tapped into a monster here. Luka Shaw never got this kind of traction before.
The bike tease: what is LeBron hinting at?
The real intrigue is in his caption: “They got another one on the way I can’t wait to show ya’ll.”
Canyon immediately launched the internet into detective mode. So what is Lebron hinting at? A road bike? A mountain bike? A gravel bike?
Well he’s riding (if pedaling a stationary bike in a studio can be called riding) a full-squish mountain bike in the ad. Could Canyon be releasing a 32-inch wheel mountain bike for tall riders a la Dirty Sixer and Shaquille O’Neal? But then why would the ad also features a brief glimpse of a gravel bike? Wait, is Shaq hopping on to the drop bar, mountain bike trend?
Whatever it is, the next post is going to break the fire-emoji button.
Canyon’s most influential athlete?
For now, all we have is a teaser and thousands of people hammering the flame key on their phones.
Canyon’s getting their money’s worth with this one. Because not even Troy Brosnan has 158 million followers.
LeBron knows the formula: post a bike, tease a new one and watch the internet melt down.
Whenever the next reveal comes, it won’t matter if it is carbon, aluminum, mullet, 29er or a production 32-incher. The comments will still be the real show.
