Ontario cyclist killed by driver

A 59-year-old cyclist died after a collision with a motorist on Thursday night, January 9, in Thornbury, Ont., according to authorities. Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP, along with Grey County Paramedics, responded to reports of a serious crash between a cyclist and a vehicle on Highway 26, between the Tenth and Eleventh Lines.

Police confirmed Friday that the cyclist died from injuries sustained in the collision.
The highway was closed for several hours as the OPP and collision reconstruction team investigated the scene.

The driver of the vehicle has been co-operative with authorities, according to an OPP news release.
The investigation is ongoing, and the OPP is asking anyone who was in the area around the time of the collision or who has dash-cam or surveillance footage to contact Collingwood OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
