Tadej Pogačar starts wearing Urška Zigart’s kit to dodge annoying fans

Well, that’s something. According to intel from Canadian Cycling Magazine’s James Bunga, who is currently covering the Classics, world champ Tadej Pogačar has been wearing his fiancée’s Urška Zigart kit when he trains. Why? To avoid being harassed by fans.

The world champion has talked about this before.

Pogi has had his fair share of…close fans. He even wore special jerseys asking for space.

Sometimes, he bails on putting on his rainbow jersey to draw less attention to him. Still, with a black training jersey, the rainbow bike and his distinctive style are a giveaway to anyone who follows the sport. IYKYK, or whatever.

He once addressed it on Strava. “Honest questions to all fans.”

The Slovenian said, “If you find me in conversation with someone and ask me for a photo, I ask that you give me two minutes to finish talking.”

“Do you wait two minutes, or do you show me your middle finger and ride off angrily?” he continued. “And then have your partner yell at me? A long day ended with losing my biggest fan. By the way, I love you all. Heck, I even like the fans who aren’t my supporters — as long as they don’t have the attitude of a spoiled teenager.”

Well, he’s found a fix…for now. But it may not work out as he planned. Pogi borrowed some of his fiancée — a pro cyclist and national champion in her own right, Urška Zigart’s kit. She races for AG Insurance–Soudal and is one of the top women in the sport. Thankfully, somehow the kit fit Pogi, but it hasn’t seemed to help.

He said, despite Zigart having a lot of gear as pro cyclist, sometimes he’s forced to wear her stuff after her ride. “We do laundry once a week, yeah. Her team gives her a lot of stuff but now and then I gotta do what you gotta do and whatever,” he said.

Despite him being world champ, he’s made a few realizations about his partner.

“It’s not like I don’t know Urška isn’t a star, but I thought I’d be bugged less,” he said. “But yeah, I think I got bugged more in trainings. Maybe it was my hair?”

Canadian Cycling Magazine doesn’t like to editorialize, but they both have great hair. Especially in April.
