The urge to Strava is spilling military secrets... again

Strava is proving again to be the source of not just kudos, but sensitive military information. The latest incident comes after a French sailor took a jog aboard the nation’s lone aircraft carrier, then posted that run to his public Strava profile.

Now, the general location of the aircraft carrier, Charles de Gaulle, in the Mediterranean is not secret. That was announced early in March, shortly after the Israel/U.S. war on Iran started.

But Le Monde, who broke the Strava story, point out that “The young man has just reported, almost in real time, the exact position in the Mediterranean Sea of the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and its escort, northwest of Cyprus and about 100 kilometers from the Turkish coast.”
