Tour du Silence 2026 returns to Quebec in May

Tour du Silence 2026 returns to Quebec in May

In just two months, cyclists across Quebec will come together once again for the 2026 Tour du Silence.

It’s an important community-driven event that is all about remembrance, advocacy and, well, the simple joy of riding together.

The ride is held during Bike Month. It also ushers in the start of the cycling season.

Moment of reflection

Before each ride begins, riders gather to reflect. A brief moment of silence honours cyclists who have been killed. It also reminds riders of the ongoing goal for safer streets for everyone, whether on two wheels or four.

Routes are designed to be accessible and welcoming. They usually run around 10–20 km at a controlled pace. They are open to all and free to attend. You can ride whatever bike you’d like; helmets are required.

It began in the U.S. in 2003. The Ride of Silence has since grown into a global movement.

Today, it takes place in more than 450 cities worldwide. It traditionally takes place on the third Wednesday of May.

Organize your own Tour du Silence

In Quebec, the Tour du Silence has been coordinated by the Fédération québécoise des sports cyclistes (FQSC) since 2010. It’s also supported by the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ).

Around 20 rides are typically held each year.

If your city or town currently doesn’t have a Tour du Silence, you can also organize one of your own. To learn more, go to TourDuSilence.com
