Watch new film on incredible six-month South American cycling adventure — screening in Toronto

If you’re from Toronto and looking for some great cycling content, a film is screening in the new year.

A new documentary, Because It’s There, chronicles the 2024 South American Epic. It was a six-month cycling expedition from Colombia to Patagonia. The film follows a group of strangers as they pedal across deserts, mountains, salt flats and remote valleys. Along the way they face mechanical issues, wild weather and personal doubts.

“I like the circus metaphor,” a rider said during the trip. “We are putting up the big top, our tents, everyday, taking them down.. travelling to the next place.”

Tour leader Carolina guides the cyclists through a journey that becomes as much about building community and embracing challenge as it is about covering distance.
Through candid interviews and stunning landscapes, the documentary explores why riders would undertake such tough, but rewarding adventure.

The film will be screened on January 22, 6:30–9:00 p.m. at Blacksmith Cycle, 1A Givins Street, Toronto.
