Day two offers up the only opportunity for the sprinters at this year’s race, so you can bet that they, and their teams, will be doing everything in their powers to keep the breakaway on a tight leash. The finish line will be passed twice before the end of the stage, giving the fast riders a chance to do a detailed recon and choose their sprinting lines for later on. Keeping a close eye on the wind will also be important on this stage – the final 90km play out on the open plains of the Parc Naturel régional de Camargue, an area routinely battered by gusts blowing in from the Mediterranean.
