POV: Jackson Goldstone’s podium run in Leogang DH World Cup

Jackson Goldstone Leogang race run

Jackson Goldstone was on an absolute heater of a finals run at the Leogang World Cup when, just less than 100m from the finish line, it all came undone. The Syndicate’s young Canadian slid out in the last corner.

While Goldstone kept it upright, amazingly, and still sprinted to the line for a podium finish, it’s hard not to think of what could have been. Based on Goldstone’s reaction after the finish line in the video below, he knows exactly what could have been.

Still, third place in just his second elite World Cup is an absolutely phenomenal finish. If it hadn’t come just after a near-miss, it would have been 100 per cent celebrations in the finish corral.

At the absolute very least, it shows that we can expect some amazing rides from the Canadian this year. Maybe as soon as when World Cup racing resumes in Val di Sole in a few weeks.

Goldstone wasn’t the only rider that the tricky chicane caused headaches. Finn Iles also struggled in that same section. As did the iconic Rachel Atherton. With finish times in Leogang so incredibly close this year, these tiny errors pushed all three riders down the standings.

You can see Atherton’s run, and reaction, below.
